Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program
The Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program (HEMP) was founded by Barnett Helzberg, Jr. in 1995 to match aspiring entrepreneurs with well-seasoned, successful entrepreneurs. HEMP mentors and mentees participate in networking opportunities, trips to local Kansas City businesses, and one-on-one mentor meetings. Ryan Toelkes, the owner of Neighborhood Painting, was chosen to be part of the 2017 Mentoring Class for the program. His strong work ethic and dedicated pursuit of owning and managing his own business made him a worthy candidate for this program. Since 2011, Neighborhood Painting, Inc has been a regular winner of the Angie’s List Super Service award for exterior painting, carpentry, and siding. We’ve added to that list as 2019’s awards have been announced, marking the ninth consecutive year that we’ve won this award. Angie’s List is the leading source of consumer services reviews, offering unpaid and honest reviews from homeowners highlighting their experiences with area vendors. The Thinking Bigger Business Media Inc. gives out the 25 Under 25 Award every year, which highlights businesses like ours that employ 25 or fewer people. But that’s not all…to win this award, a business must display financial stability, a dedication to community service and a commitment to their respective areas of expertise. This is for small businesses that operate with the efficiency of effectiveness of much larger organizations. Professional Remodeler is a print and online magazine that caters to the home building community. They have been a leading publication for designers, builders, and trade partners for the last 75 years. Their September 2017 issue reached more than 110,000 professionals throughout the United States. Professional Remodeler recently featured Neighborhood Painting’s owner, Ryan Toelkes, in an article about the hig-quality PPG Paint products that the company uses to complete their residential painting and remodeling projects.
