We live in a dollar-centric world nowadays. Cost drives many of our decisions. What cars we drive, the food we eat, and the clothes we buy are all tied to price tags and budgets. There’s an old saying about being “penny wise and pound foolish.” ...

Mission Hills was founded on June 30th, 1914, mainly due to the efforts of Real Estate Developer JC Nichols. Initially, 121 acres were on the Kansas Side and 7 acres on the Missouri side where the clubhouse resided- mainly due to the State Liquor Laws at the time. What makes Mission Hills unique is that you have architectural designs that continue to maintain historical integrity (houses that mostly fit in 7 styles- several of which are referenced later in the article). Still, it’s mainly the use of green spaces, parklets, lot configurations, and house mass patterns that represent the unique look and feel of Mission Hills.

As a person who appreciates small town values, but who is also dependent on local commerce as a business man, the city of Shawnee, Kansas has it all. The presence of the small town values of its hardworking residents from years before are still deeply ingrained in the city's core. You're not going to see this at your typical large corporate franchise's that are in every other city, but go downtown near city hall and talk with the local shop/business owners and there you will find what I'm talking about.
I've dedicated my life to being a true craftsman in house painting and restoration. Along the way, I've learned much about myself and the profession. It's worth sharing, as much of what's written here can impact your home if and when we get to work together.
